Former Pakistan cricket captain Wasim Akram has expressed deep disappointment following Pakistan’s historic defeat against Bangladesh in the second Test, held on September 3 at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

The loss marked Pakistan’s 10th consecutive winless Test at home since December 2021, a streak that stands as their second-worst in history. This defeat comes on the heels of Pakistan’s early exits from the 2023 ODI World Cup and the T20 World Cup earlier this year, raising serious concerns about the team's current form.

Akram did not hold back his emotions when speaking to AFP, describing Pakistan's current situation as a "huge setback." He said, "It's a huge setback, and our cricket is at a crossroads." The legendary pacer went on to share his embarrassment over the Shan Masood-led team's performance, especially considering the promising positions they held during the matches.

"For a former player and captain, and a lover of the game, I was left embarrassed at the way they have lost from good positions. I simply don't get it," Akram commented, clearly frustrated with the team's inability to capitalize on opportunities.

The recent loss against Bangladesh is just one of many disappointing results on home soil, "We are losing consistently on home turf, and that says a lot about the quality of our cricket." He added.

Pakistan's next opportunity to redeem themselves will be in the forthcoming three-match Test series against England, part of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 cycle. The first Test is set to be played from October 7 to 11 in Multan, followed by the second Test in Karachi from October 15 to 19, and the third and final Test in Rawalpindi from October 24 to 28.
