Pakistan cricket team's newly appointed chief selector Wahab Riaz gave an injury update on injured pacers Naseem Shah, Mohammad Hasnain and Ihsanullah during a press conference on Monday.
Newly appointed chief selector and former pacer Wahab Riaz has shed light on the current fitness status of key Pakistan pacers - Naseem Shah, Ihsanullah and Mohammad Hasnain.
Ihsanullah, who played in one ODI and four T20Is for Pakistan, suffered an elbow injury. The 20-year-old has been ruled out of international cricket since playing for Pakistan in the ODI series at home against New Zealand in April this year.
“Naseem Shah will hopefully be able to bowl at 50-60% after three weeks. Mohammad Hasnain has started running and sprinting. He started bowling last week but it will take him a few weeks to build up his workload. “Ihsanullah continues to suffer in rehab,” Riaz said.
Naseem was injured in the 2023 Asia Cup and was ruled out of the ICC World Cup due to a shoulder injury. Hasnain and Ihsanullah, on the other hand, had elbow problems and will be back soon.
Mohammad Hasnain, 23, suffered an ankle injury while playing in the Sri Lanka Premier League in August. He traveled from Sri Lanka to England and underwent an MRI. The scans revealed that the fast bowler requires rehabilitation of his ankle, which has been underway in England since September 13.
Riaz announced an 18-man squad for the Test series against Australia starting in December and confirmed during the press conference that Naseem is improving while Hasnain has already started bowling. Meanwhile, Ihsanullah is still in rehab.
