Chittagong Kings beat Sylhet Strikers by 30 runs on Monday (January 13) at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, Sylhet. Fifties from Usman Khan and Graham Clark and a blistering 42* from Haider Ali helped the Kings get to a mountainous 203 on the board. In reply, Jaker Ali gave some blows but failed to chase it down.
The victory sees Chittagong Kings move to the second spot of the table.Being inserted to bat first, Chittagong Kings had a sloppy start, losing Parvez Hossain Emon cheaply. But Usman Khan and Graham Clark forged a superb partnership together, adding 68 off just 39 deliveries. Both of them brought up their half-centuries.
Clark scored 60 off 33 deliveries, whereas Usman made 53 off 35 balls. Mohammad Mithun came and smashed a quick-fire cameo of 28 off 19 deliveries. At the backend of the innings, it was Haider Ali, who absolutely teared apart Sylhet Strikers bowlers, smacking a blistering knock of 42* from 18 deliveries, including three massive sixes and four boundaries, helping his side getting to a massive 203 on the board.
In reply, Sylhet Strikers didn't have a fine way to start their chase as they lost both of their openers cheaply. But Zakir Hasan once again stood and scored 25 off 19 deliveries before falling to Aliss Al Islam. It was the wicketkeeper batter George Munsey who steered the ship for Sylhet Strikers, but wickets kept tumbling on the other end. Munsey made a hardfought 52 off 37 deliveries, but at the backend of the innings Jaker Ali Anik blasted 47* off 23 deliveries yet failed to chase down the total as Sylhet Strikers were 30 runs short of the chase.
Following this victory, Chittagong Kings have moved to second spot, while Sylhet Strikers are succumbing on the fifth spot of the table.
