UAE lost by 2-1 in the T20I series against New Zealand. Junaid's conduct in the series-deciding third and final T20I breached ICC rules. In the 5th over of New Zealand's innings, Junaid dismissed Kiwi batter Tim Seifert and yelled at him. Here he violated Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Contact.
In the 17th over of the same innings, Junaid got angry with the umpire's decision and used offensive language. Here he violated Article 2.8 of the ICC Code of Conduct. As a result, 2 demerit points have been added to his name in addition to a 25 percent match fee penalty.
The charges were levelled by on-field umpires Akbar Ali and Shiju Sam, along with third umpire Aasif Iqbal. There was no need for a formal hearing after Siddique admitted to the offence and accepted the sanctions proposed by ICC match referee Andy Pycroft.
