Shakib Al Hasan has been given the responsibility of Bangladesh 's new ODI captain. The Tigers will be led by Shakib in the upcoming Asia Cup, New Zealand series, and ODI World Cup. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hassan Papon confirmed this today.

Papon feels Shakib is the most deserving to captain the side. Papon told the media that currently he does not see anyone more serious than Shakib in the team. Papon lauded Shakib's consistent cricket performance and focus on cricket.

Papon told the media, “There is no doubt about Shakib's ability. One area I feel pretty good about now is that I had doubts about Shakib before whether he was serious about which matches he would play or not. Now I see that there is no one more serious than him. He is playing all the matches that we play. Also, he played in Canada, now playing in Sri Lanka. I think his full focus is on cricket now. It's a plus point for us.”

Bangladesh's Asia Cup squad will be announced tomorrow (August 12). Under the leadership of Shakib, the Tigers will enter the campaign of the Asia Cup and the World Cup.
