Noor Ali Zadran was born on July 10, 1988 in Khost, Afghanistan. Noor Ali considers Ricky Ponting his cricket hero and inspiration to play. Zadran's cousin Mujeeb Ur Rahman Zadran also plays for Afghanistan in international cricket.
Noor Ali Zadran is an Afghan cricketer who represents the Afghanistan men's national cricket team in international cricket. Noor Ali Zadran hits with his right hand and can roll fast to medium with his right arm. Zadran represents the Mis Ainak region in domestic cricket.
Noor Ali Zadran made his first-class debut for Afghanistan in a game against Zimbabwe. The 32-year-old has played competitive cricket for the past 10 years. As an opening batsman, he has suffered from inconsistencies and was not a regular member of Afghanistan's ODI and T20I squads.
First Class Debut
Afghanistan's success in World Cup qualifying qualified the team for the 2009–10 ICC Intercontinental Cup, where they regularly played first-class cricket against associated countries.
Ali's first class debut came in Afghanistan's first first class game against a Zimbabwe XI. The Zimbabwe XI included some players with Test cricket experience – such as their captain and wicketkeeper Tatenda Taibu and fast bowler Christopher Mpofu – and ODI Cricket. Ali opened the batting for the inexperienced Afghan team, scoring a century in his first class debut. He made 130 runs from 200 deliveries before being sacked by leg-spin bowler Tafadzwa Kamungozi.
In Afghanistan's second innings, Ali continued his first-inning exploits by hitting exactly one hundred and going undefeated when the game was declared a tie. Only three other players: Arthur Morris, Nari Contractor, and Aamer Malik had hit centuries in both innings of their first first-class game up to this point.
International Career
Ali made his representative international debut for Afghanistan U-17 cricket team in 2004 against United Arab Emirates U-17 national team.
Ali made his Twenty20 debut for Afghanistan in the 2007 ACC Twenty20 Cup against Oman.
Noor Ali was part of the fast-rising Afghan cricket team that won the World Cricket League Division Five, Division Four and Division Three in 2008-09, thus promoting them to Division Two and allowing them to compete in the 2009 ICC World Cup Qualifiers.
He made his List A debut against Denmark in World Cup qualifying. Later in the tournament, Ali scored 122 points against Canada in the Super Eights of the 2009 ICC World Cup Qualifier; This match predated Afghanistan's ODI status (achieved later in the tournament) but was a List A game. During the tournament, Afghanistan was granted ODI status. He made his One Day International debut against Scotland where he scored 45 runs.
Later Career
During Afghanistan's 2009 tour of the Netherlands, Ali made a crucial contribution to half a century in Afghanistan's second innings during their Intercontinental Cup match against the Netherlands, helping Afghanistan to a 1-wicket win. In November 2009, Ali was a key member of Afghan winning team ACC Twenty20.
In January 2010, Ali continued his fine form in firsr class cricket by scoring two fifties, scoring 53 and 57, in the Afghan Intercontinental Cup win over Ireland. After the Intercontinental Cup win, he made his full Twenty20 International debut against Ireland in the 2010 Quadrangular Twenty20 Series in Sri Lanka. After the tournament, Ali was a member of Afghanistan's victorious 2010 ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier-winning squad and was later named to Afghanistan's 2010 ICC World Twenty20 squad.
After the tournament, Ali made his first ODI century with a score of 114 against Canada in Sharjah. In the following Intercontinental Cup game against Canada, he hit 52 runs in Afghanistan's second innings and tied with Karim Sadiq for an opening 70 as Afghanistan successfully chased 494 to victory.
In April, Noor Ali was a key member of Afghanistan's 2010 ACC Trophy Elite winning squad, which defeated Nepal in the final. He hit 108 runs from 88 balls early in the tournament against Bhutan.
2010 ICC World Twenty20
In Afghanistan's opening game in the 2010 ICC World Twenty20 against India, Ali hit 50 balls from 48 and shared a sponsorship of 68 with Asghar Afghan. Ali's 50 failed to save Afghanistan from a 7-goal loss. In the team's second game against South Africa, Ali was one of several Afghan batsmen who could not cope with the fast pace of the South African attack, with Ali being held off by Dale Steyn's bowling Mark Boucher.
Cricket World Cup 2019
In April 2019, he was called up to Afghanistan's squad for the 2019 Cricket World Cup.
