As Bangladesh look for a new T20I captain, there is a lot of talk about who will lead the team.  Since Najmul Hossain Shanto quit, Litton Das, a star wicketkeeper and batter, is now in the lead. Taskin Ahmed, a fast bowler, has also become a competitor.

While Taskin is still focused on his main job as a player, he is open to the idea of leading the team if the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) gives it to him.

Speaking to the media on March 21, Taskin said that the decision lies entirely with the board, and he is ready to give his best in any role. “This is completely up to the board. As a player, my priority is to enjoy my cricket and perform to the best of my ability. There is nothing more satisfying than contributing to the team’s victory. If the board believes I am the right fit, I will give my best, InshaAllah.”

Bangladesh are going to be busy in the coming weeks with a match against Zimbabwe, and international matches.  Taskin knew he had a lot of work to do, especially since he had some bad performances in recent matches.

“Every match is crucial. Right now, we are playing in the Premier League, then there is the Zimbabwe Test series, and the rest of the year is packed with matches. Our focus is on performing better as a team. We haven’t been up to the mark in the last few matches, but we are working hard to overcome our shortcomings.”

The pacer also credited his progress to his family’s support, prayers, and faith in Allah. “By Allah’s grace and with my family’s support, I have grown as a cricketer. I always strive to improve, and their love and prayers inspire me to do even better for my country.”
