The winner of the ICC Men's T20I Cricketer of the Year had one of the best years any player had in the format's history. Here, we take a look at his outrageous 2022 and the standout performances of the year.
Suryakumar Yadav has been named ICC's T20I Cricketer of the Year 2022 after a sensational run in the shortest format of the game. Suryakumar Yadav is currently ranked No.1 among T20I batters and has already hit 3 hundreds in a short but entertaining career so far.
Suryakumar Yadav made his debut in T20Is against England in March 2021 and has not looked back since in the game's newest format. In his first innings, SKY as he is fondly known in cricketing circles, hit 57 off 31 balls against the touring English side and then went from strength to strength.

1164 runs in 31 matches at an average of 46.56 and a strike-rate of 187.43
Suryakumar Yadav had a stellar year with the bat breaking an array of records and setting a benchmark like never before in the format. He became just the second batter to make more than 1000 runs in a calendar year in T20Is and ended the year as the highest run-getter, scoring 1164 runs at a ridiculous strike-rate of 187.43.
Yadav hit a stunning 68 sixes during the year, easily the most recorded by anyone in a year in the format's history. The Indian was the key batter for his team through the year, smashing two hundreds and nine half-centuries.
In 2022, Suryakumar Yadav went to England and smashed 117 off just 55 balls in an unsuccessful run chase for India but that innings helped define his aggressive style of cricket in the times to come. After three consecutive half-centuries against Australia and South Africa last year, Suryakumar Yadav went to the T20 World Cup as the most dangerous batter in T20 Internationals.
In the World Cup, SKY scored 51 not out against Netherlands and then hit a classy 68 against South Africa on a difficult pitch. He followed that up with a breathtaking 111 not out against New Zealand and then started 2023 with a bang, hammering an unbeaten 112 against Sri Lanka.
