The sweltering heat of the subcontinent has posed a tough challenge for both touring and home teams alike. During the ongoing Test series between Bangladesh and South Africa, the extreme heat has been a constant test for the players. At the close of Day 1 in the Chattogram Test, South Africa finished strong with a score of 307 for 2 wickets, thanks to centuries by Tony de Zorzi and Tristan Stubbs.
Reflecting on his strategy amid the challenging conditions, Tristan Stubbs shared insights on tackling the heat after his remarkable innings. Stubbs stated, “We've been in the Caribbean. It's been too hot. And then the UAE last month. So I'm just as much as you can get used to it being that uncomfortable heat. And then just for me, I sweat a lot. So just trying to keep my gloves dry. Unfortunately, I have a nice sponsor who's given me a lot for this tour. But that's the biggest challenge.”
Stubbs also expressed his confidence in the South African bowling attack, particularly praising Kagiso Rabada’s potential impact on the game. “We got KG, so you can just build. I reckon I see it like playing out and then happening quickly towards the back-end. But it's going to be a great,” he added.
Stubbs' impressive innings of 106 off 198 balls laid a strong foundation for South Africa in the second Test of the two-match series, where they currently lead 1-0 following a victory in the first match.
