With growing concerns over political unrest in Bangladesh, the country has taken extensive measures to reassure South Africa regarding their upcoming cricket tour. Over the last two days, military personnel conducted rigorous drills at the Mirpur Stadium, showcasing Bangladesh's preparedness to ensure the safety of all players. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is confident that South Africa's delegation, which was in attendance, is satisfied with the security arrangements.
The uncertainty surrounding the South Africa tour emerged after the Women’s T20 World Cup was relocated from Bangladesh due to the political situation. However, the BCB believes that the latest security demonstrations have dispelled any doubts, and they are optimistic the series will proceed as planned.
BCB's Cricket Operations in-charge, Shahriar Nafees, emphasized the collaborative effort between various government and security agencies to ensure a secure environment for international cricket. "Whenever the Bangladesh Cricket Board organizes an international event, it’s not just the board—it's the entire government and the people who take responsibility. After the last two days of demonstrations, we are confident that there should be no concerns about the overall situation and security measures," said Nafees.
Although South Africa has yet to confirm the tour officially, Nafees is optimistic after discussions with the visiting delegation. "From what I’ve gathered in my conversations, they have expressed great satisfaction. They’ve thanked the BCB, police, army, navy, air force, RAB, and fire services for their cooperation."
