Australia have beaten England by 49 runs (DLS method) on Sunday (September 29) at County Ground, Bristol. Travis Head's four wicket-haul, along with other part timers brilliant spells helped the Aussies restrict England to a below par total of 309 runs. In reply, Matthew Short and Travis Head made absolute carnage to give Australia a flying start, while Josh Inglis and Steve Smith steered the ship to help Aussies get edge over England in terms of DLS.
Being inserted to bat first, England started off to a flier. Courtesy Phil Salt and Ben Duckett and their incredible power hitting. The duo added 58 runs before Aaron Hardie removed the former one after a brisk 45 off 27 deliveries. He then had Will Jacks for a four-ball duck and England lost back to back wickets.
It was then Harry Brook, he smashed a quick-fire 72 off 52 deliveries before Adam Zampa got him out. On the other hand, Duckett blasted a century and scored a swashbuckling 107 off 91 deliveries. After the departure of Duckett and Brook, England collapsed horribly in the middle order and lost quick wickets.
Adil Rashid, however at the lower order scored some pivotal runs of 35 runs to help England post 309 on the board.
In reply, Matthew Short and Travis Head made a carnage in the powerplay as the duo added 78 runs off only 43 deliveries before Head departed to Brydon Carse. However, Short brought up a fantastic fifty and scored a swashbuckling 58 off only 30 balls to uplift Australia to over the DLS level as the forecast was saying rain was a must.
After the departure of the openers, Steve Smith and Josh Inglis held on there and stitched 47 runs as Inglis was smashing England bowlera hard. After 20.4 the heavens were opened up but Australia were already 49 runs ahead in the DLS method.
