Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto expressed satisfaction with his team's overall energy and performance as they defeated Afghanistan by 68 runs in the second ODI, tying the series 1-1. Despite scoring a resilient 76 runs from 119 balls, Shanto admitted he wasn't entirely satisfied with his innings, aiming to "bat a bit longer" in future games.

"To be very honest, I am not happy. I need to bat a bit longer," Shanto reflected, acknowledging the difficulties he faced on a challenging pitch, particularly against Afghanistan's spinners. "The wicket was difficult, especially against spinners. But the way I started, I was happy [with my innings]." His innings, combined with strong bowling efforts from Nasum Ahmed (3/28) and Mehidy Hasan Miraz (2/37), built the foundation for Bangladesh’s victory, as Afghanistan were bowled out for 184 in 43.3 overs, chasing a target of 253.

The skipper also praised Taskin Ahmed, whose early breakthrough removed Afghanistan’s key opener, Rahmanullah Gurbaz. "The way we started, Taskin again took out Gurbaz, who is an important batter [for Afghanistan]," Shanto noted. Highlighting the teamwork and enthusiasm on the field, he added, "What I want from the fielding side is a lot of energy, and they delivered today."

Shanto also applauded Jaker Ali and Nasum Ahmed for their late-order contributions that added crucial runs. "The way they [Jaker and Nasum] finished, it looked like we got the momentum. That is what I want with Jaker and from the lower and middle order. Hopefully, they [Jaker and Nasum] can continue batting [like this]."
