Although Bangladesh lost the ODI series against Afghanistan, Najmul Hossain Shanto has earned a personal achievement in the latest ICC rankings update. The Bangladesh captain and left-handed batter has reached a career-high spot on the ICC ODI batsman rankings. In the weekly ICC rankings update released on Wednesday, Shanto rose 11 places after consistent performances, moving into joint 23rd position with Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan with a personal-best 604 rating points.

In the same update, Mahmudullah Riyad climbed 10 spots to secure 44th position following a crucial 98-run innings in the final ODI, while Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Mustafizur Rahman also saw rank boosts. Mushfiqur Rahim, however, dropped seven places to 44th after being sidelined due to a finger injury sustained in the first match.
Among bowlers, Mehidy Hasan Miraz advanced nine positions to a joint 23rd place with South Africa’s Lungi Ngidi, thanks to his consistent bowling that earned him three wickets across the series. Mustafizur Rahman’s impressive haul of eight wickets saw him rise six places to join Australia’s Pat Cummins at 36th. Meanwhile, Taskin Ahmed moved up one position to 39th, and Shoriful Islam slipped 10 places to 34th after a challenging series.
Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi solidified his top all-rounder ranking after scoring 116 runs and taking three wickets against Bangladesh. Mehidy Hasan Miraz also climbed to fourth in the all-rounder rankings after a solid series performance.
