Shaheen Shah Afridi returned to his form and completed his fifty T20I wickets during Pakistan's T20 World Cup 2022 game against South Africa here today.
Shaheen Afridi has not been at his best since returning from injury at the T20 World Championship and many criticized team management for returning early from a serious ACL injury. However, his performance in the Super 12 win over South Africa, which was a must against Pakistan, showed everyone around the world why he is considered one of the finest pacers in modern football.
Shaheen Shah Afridi regained his form to take his 50th T20I wicket during their clash against South Africa at Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) in the T20 World Cup.
Afridi, while representing Pakistan in his 44th T20I, took Rilee Rossouw in his second over of the second inning to finish with 50 wickets in the shorter format.
The left arm pacesetter, who was returning from a knee injury, has struggled to return to his pre-injury form. Today he bowled with accurate line and length to sack three wickets for 14 carries in his three overs.
Prior to this match, Afridi took just one wicket in three matches. His only wicket was against the Netherlands.
Pakistan outclassed South Africa today in a must-win game. Shadab Khan and Iftikhar Ahmed shone with the bat as they saved Pakistan to place a commanding 186-run goal on the board.
Shaheen later led the bowling line from the front as he won the most three wickets for Pakistan. Shadab sacked two while Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf and Mohammad Wasim Jr shared a wicket.
