In the wake of the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir that claimed the lives of 26 civilians, former India U19 cricketer Shreevats Goswami has strongly urged the BCCI to completely cut all cricketing ties with Pakistan. The attack was reportedly carried out by The Resistance Front a proxy of the banned terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

Goswami took to social media to condemn the horrific incident and called for zero tolerance not just from the government but also from the cricketing community.

“And this is exactly why I say - you don't play cricket with Pakistan. Not now. Not ever. When BCCI or the government refused to send India to the Champions Trophy in Pakistan, some had the audacity to say, 'Oh, but sport should rise above politics',” Goswami wrote.

“Murdering innocent Indians seems to be Pakistan's national sport and India should respond with zero tolerance and not with bats and balls,” he added.

Shreevats Goswami also appealed to Indian cricketers playing in the ongoing IPL 2025 to wear black armbands as a sign of solidarity and respect for the victims of the Pahalgam attack.

“Requesting all India players to wear a black armband this week at least. In memory of the innocent lives lost in Kashmir. Play the game. But let the world watching know,” he tweeted.

“Cricket teaches millions across borders – this small gesture can spread awareness and show solidarity. It’s the least we can do. Thank you. #IPL #Kashmir,” he added.

India and Pakistan have not played a bilateral series since 2012 only meeting in ICC tournaments and the Asia Cup. Earlier this year the BCCI refused to send Team India to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy 2025 opting instead to play all their matches in Dubai.
