The Galle test is in equilibrium position. A hectic day of test Cricket and there have been lots of ups and downs. First Prabath Jayasuriya stuttered Pakistan and then Saud Shakeel and Agha Salman punched back with their terrific knocks.
At the start of the day Sri Lanka were relying on Dhananjaya De Silva as he was the last recognised batter for the Lankans. De Silva was on 94* and he notched up his 10th test hundred and 3rd against Pakistan. De Silva started to up the ante after his century as he was batting with the tail and he raced to 122 before he fell to Naseem Shah in run of play game. Sri Lanka were crumbling on 288-9 and Pakistan had a chance to restrict them inside 300 but some blitz from Vishwa Fernando helped Sri Lanka pass 300 mark barrier. Vishwa Fernando ended his innings for 21 off 28 deliveries, the innings really was making Pakistan frustrated. Sri Lanka added 312 in the first innings.
For Pakistan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah and Abrar Ahmed shared 9 wickets together as all had 3 apiece. The another solitary wicket was taken by part timer Agha Salman.
In reply of Sri Lanka's 312, Pakistan had a sterile start as they struggled horribly against the dangerous left armer Prabath Jayasuriya. He ripped through Pakistan's batting lineup and left them stuttering 101-5. But then Agha Salman and Sauud Shakeel brought Pakistan back with their terrific fighting knocks. The duo added 120 runs where Agha scored 61 off 84 balls and his partner Saud Shakeel made 69 off 88 deliveries before rain came into the play. They have taken their team to a fine position from a situation they would've been fallen into a deep trouble.
Stumps have been called earlier for rain. Pakistan are now 221-5 and 91 runs away from Sri Lanka's first innings total. With two of their set batters are still in the crease Pakistan surely will be hoping for a big lead. Whereas Sri Lanka will be eyeing to wrap things up in the morning session of day 3 to have an edge in the first test of the series.
