the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Sub Regional East Asia-Pacific Qualifier A match
against Vanuatu at Garden Oval No.2 in Apia, Samoa, on Tuesday. Visser, in just
his third T20I appearance, smashed six sixes off Vanuatu's seamer Nalin Nipiko,
who also conceded three no-balls in a chaotic 15th over.
Visser’s relentless assault resulted in a staggering 39 runs from the over, surpassing the previous record of 36 runs held by cricketing legends like Yuvraj Singh, Kieron Pollard, and more recently, Nicholas Pooran, Dipendra Singh Airee, and Rohit Sharma/Rinku Singh. This record-breaking over included three consecutive sixes, followed by a six off a free hit after a no-ball, and concluded with a pair of sixes after another dot ball.
Visser's innings didn't just break records for the over but also secured his place as Samoa's first-ever centurion in T20I cricket. He ended his explosive innings with 132 runs from 62 balls, featuring 14 sixes, leading Samoa to a competitive total of 174. His remarkable feat was instrumental in Samoa’s 10-run victory over Vanuatu, as they restricted their opponents to 164 for 9. This win kept Samoa's hopes alive for qualifying for the 2026 T20 World Cup.
Visser’s 14 sixes ranked as the fifth most in a men’s T20I innings, and his score accounted for a staggering 75.86% of Samoa’s total runs—a new record for the highest percentage of a team's runs scored by a single batter, surpassing Aaron Finch’s previous mark of 75.1%. The 28-year-old’s historic performance has not only raised Samoa’s profile on the global cricketing stage but also set a new benchmark in T20I cricket.
