The head coach of West Indies Darren Sammy has claimed Alzarri Joseph's behaviour during the third ODI as "unacceptable." The fast bowler left the field after a disagreement with West Indies skipper Shai Hope.
Alzarri Joseph was seen unhappy during the fourth over of England's innings after a disagreement with West Indies captain Shai Hope. During the 4th over of the England's innings in the third ODI, Alzarri Joseph was unhappy with a field placement and he was seen having discussion with Hope. In the fourth delivery of the over, Joseph had Jordan Cox caught behind, but did not celebrate with his team, instead immediately returned to his mark.
At the end of the over, Joseph left the field without letting anyone know and went into the dressing room, which forced West Indies to start the 5th over with only ten fielders on the pitch.
"Behaviour like that is unacceptable on my cricket field," Sammy said to TalkSPORT after play. "We will be friends…but in the culture I'm trying to build, that's unacceptable. We will definitely have a chat about that."
"I pride myself on having the difficult conversations," Sammy said. "But in a way that everybody understands what is needed to be done. To see guys going out there and slowly progressing in the right direction makes me proud.
"There's still a lot of work to be done, but it's one that I'm quite passionate about."
West Indies, however, won the ODI series by 2-1 and the five-match T20I series begins on Saturday (November 9).
