Scotland have beaten Zimbabwe by a big margin of 31 runs to keep their hope alive for World Cup qualifications 2023. Zimbabwe are almost on the verge from disqualifying from World Cup due to nrr.
Earlier the day Zimbabwe won the toss and opted to bowl first. Scotland had a fine start as their openers added 56 runs together on a sluggish pitch at Queens Sports Club, Bulawayo. Christopher Mcbride was gone to Chatara as he knocked over Mcbride with a peach for 28 off 45. Matthew Cross and Brandon McMullen together added 46 runs before Matthew Cross got himself to Sean Williams. At the end, Michael Leask's late blitz gave some momentum in Scottish innings as he made a quick-fire 48 off only 34 deliveries. Mark Watt too gave hands with his fiery 21 off 15. These efforts from Scottish batters gave them a total of 234-8.
Chasing the total, Zimbabwe had a worst way to start as they lost their top four inside the powerplay. Chris Sole with the new ball was breathing fire as he picked up 3 wickets including the big one Sean Williams for only 12. Sikandar Raza and Ryna Burl came up to rebuild the innings as they added 54 runs in 5th wicket stand before Raza saw himself in the hands of Thomas Mackintosh. Ryan Burl again made a partnership with Weasly Madhevere and made 73 runs together before Madhevere was gone to Mark Watt for LBW. Then Micheal Leask gave the big breakthrough as he got Burl for 83 and Zimbabwe's dream was burried down then. Hence they lost the match by 31 runs. Zimbabwe are now at number 3 but they've played 5 matches while Scotland played 4 and won 3 of them and are in the race of qualification for the forthcoming world cup.
