Rohit Sharma Trusts Spinners to Tackle Unfamiliar Conditions in T20 World Cup 2024
“The spinners will have a role to play, a big one. Our spinners are all-rounders, Axar and Jadeja. They are required for a good balance of the team. In pace bowling all-rounders, we have Hardik and Shivam. We will think about how to use them in the tournament, as it progresses,” Rohit added

As India prepares for the T20 World Cup 2024 in the United States and the West Indies, skipper Rohit Sharma emphasizes the importance of spinners in their game plan. The team is set to begin their campaign against Ireland at the Nassau County Cricket Stadium, which is known for its sluggish ground. Rohit Sharma is confident in his team's capacity to adapt and deal with a variety of situations.
The 37-year-old emphasized the significant role of spinners in their T20 World Cup 2024 strategy during a pre-match press conference. Sharma highlighted the versatility of spinners Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja, who contribute as all-rounders, which is crucial for maintaining a balanced team composition. Additionally, he mentioned the importance of pace-bowling all-rounders like Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube.
"It is important that we can use these four players well. As I said, I don't know if we can play all four together. If we can, that will be good. If we cannot, even then we have to find our way," said the skipper
He also speaks about warm-up match against Bangladesh, where all three spinners bowled well, and the South Africa versus Sri Lanka match, where spinners also made an impact by taking wickets
"When we played the game with Bangladesh, all three spinners bowled two overs. It wasn't that easy to hit them. And in yesterday's match (SA versus SL), the spinners also took wickets. No one knows the conditions.
"The spinners will take wickets or the seamers will take. So, we possibly... We have to find the best combination and see what will suit our team. How can we keep our batting lineup longer? How can we have more bowling options?
"So, keeping these two things in mind, we will think of making a combination," he said.
