Pakistan thumped Ireland by 7 wickets on Monday (13th May). Lorcan Tucker's brilliant fifty and then some handy cameos from other batters helped the hosts post 193 on the board. In reply, Rizwan and Fakhar hit quick-fire 70's and Azam Khan raced his way to 30 off 10 balls to chase down the total.
Being asked to bat first, Ireland didn't have a great way to start their innings. Andrew Bilbirnie departed cheaply, Paul Stirling had a good stsrt but couldn’t get going. Both of them went in the same over to Shaheen. And then Tucker and Tector got together and added 62 runs in the third wicket partnership. Then Campher, Dockrell and Delany all chipped in with handy knocks. Everyone was aggressive and tried to hit from the ball one which helped them post 193 on the board.
Wk-batter Lorcan Tucker top scored with his 51 off 34 deliveries. While from Pakistan, Shaheen Shah Afridi came top as he picked up 3 wickets. While Abbas Afridi had two wickets to his name as well.
In reply, Pakistan had a horrid start, losing their gun opener Saim Ayub for 6 and then their captain Babar Azam departed for 4 ball duck as well. And then Rizwan and Fakhar depicted a comeback story, stitching a 140 run stand altogether where Fakhar raced his way to 78 off only 40 deliveries, while Rizwan remained unbeaten on 75* off 46 balls, who steered the ship till the end.
Azam Khan at the end came for the flourishing part and he did his job empathetically, scoring 30 from just 10 deliveries. Pakistan chased down the total with 18 balls to spare and 7 wickets in hands.
