Rangpur seal 4-wicket win, Khulna remain winless

Khulna Tigers have lost again as they have registered the third loss in three matches on Friday (January 13) at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram. Rangpur Riders beat them by 4 wickets in a low-scoring match.
Rangpur Riders won the toss and elected to bowl first. Khulna lost wickets at regular intervals from the beginning. Habibur Rahman Sohan (4), Tamim Iqbal (1), Sharjeel Khan (12) all failed. Azam Khan and Yasir tackled the initial blow and made a 58-run partnership for the fourth wicket. However, after their dismissal, Khulna lost their way again.
In the end, Mohammad Saifuddin scored 22 runs from 18 balls. Khulna were all out for just 130 runs in 19.4 overs. Azam scored 34 runs off 23 balls and captain Yasir scored 25 runs off 22 balls. Pacer Robiul Haque was the best bowler for Rangpur with 4 wickets. Azmatullah Omarzai, Rakibul Hasan and Hasan Mahmud also took two wickets each.
Rangpur also got stuck in the beginning in reply. In the second over, Saifuddin bowled Rony Talukdar with his first ball. The in-form batter scored just 1 run from 7 balls. Wahab Riaz took two wickets in the fifth over. He dismissed Mahedi Hasan and Saim Ayub. Rangpur lost three wickets for 31 runs.
Nasum Ahmed broke the pair of 27 runs of Naim Sheikh and Shoaib Malik for the fourth wicket. Naim got out with 21 runs off 22 balls. Captain Nurul Hasan Sohan departed also after scoring 10 runs off 18 balls. Rangpur needed 41 runs in the last four overs to win and had five wickets in hand at that time.
Then, Shoaib Malik and Shamim Hossain tied up to accelerate the chase and in the end, Rangpur chased down the target with a little hassle. When Shoaib Malik got out in the 19th over, the game was open again. Malik scored 44 runs off 36 balls.
Rangpur needed 7 runs in the last over to win. Omarzai leveled the score with a six on the second ball of the over from Wahab. Then, Rangpur won by four wickets with three balls in hand.
