Rangpur Riders pulled off an incredible win in the Global Super League, defending a modest total of 117 runs—the lowest total ever defended on this ground in T20 cricket. The victory was powered by Kamrul Islam Rabbi’s four-wicket haul and disciplined bowling from the spin department, keeping Rangpur’s hopes for the final alive.

Shimron Hetmyer walked in next but was bowled for a golden duck by an in-swinging delivery from Rabbi, leaving Guyana reeling. Roston Chase and Shai Hope tried to stabilize, but Chase fell for 9, caught off Harmit Singh’s very first delivery. Hasan Khan followed soon after via a run-out, leaving Guyana struggling at 27/5.
Shai Hope and Gudakesh Motie stitched together a 36-run partnership to give Guyana a fighting chance. However, Mahedi Hasan broke the stand, dismissing Motie for 19. The equation boiled down to 41 runs required off the last five overs.
A dramatic turn came when Kimo Paul was dropped but soon clean-bowled by Harmit Singh. Imran Tahir, attempting a big hit, fell to a boundary catch, while Hope’s valiant knock of 33 ended with a top edge to the keeper. With Guyana nine down, Romario Shepherd hit a six but was dismissed by Rabbi on the very next ball, sealing the match for Rangpur.
Earlier, Rangpur Riders managed only 117 runs after being put into bat. Dwaine Pretorius struck early, dismissing both Steven Taylor and Saif Hassan in the opening over. He returned to remove Wayne Madsen in his second spell.
Tanzim Hasan Sakib bowled a sensational delivery to clean up Soumya Sarkar, leaving Rangpur at 25/4 after the powerplay. Sheikh Mehedi’s dismissal in the seventh over added to their woes.
Khushdil Shah (58 off 47) anchored the innings, forming a 61-run partnership with Nurul Hasan. Despite Khushdil’s efforts, Rangpur was bowled out for 117 in 19.3 overs.
This thrilling victory keeps Rangpur’s chances for the finals alive, while Guyana Amazon Warriors, with four points from four matches, will have to rely on other results to advance.
