Abahani Limited crashed Partex Sporting Club by 171 runs on Monday (11th March) in the first match of Dhaka Premier League (DPL) 2024. Spinner Rakibul Hasan and Tanvir Islam are the main heroes behind this thumping win.

Earlier, Partex' skipper Mijanur Rahman won the toss and chose to field first. Coming out to bat, the openers Naim Sheikh and Sabbir Rahman had a 107 run partnership before Sabbir got out to Assaduzzaman Payel for his fine 71 run knock. After the departure of Sabbir, Naim got out to the same man after his 37.

Jaker Ali and Mahmudul Hasan Joy showed some class in the match. Though both failed to capitalise their chances. Jaker Ali made 21 off 31 balls, while Mahmudul Hasan Joy made 34.
At the backend of the innings, Abahani's skipper Mosaddek Hossain's fine 43 and Mohammad Saifuddin's blitzkrieg 31 off 25 balls helped Abahani post 268 on the board.

In reply, Partex sporting club couldn’t cope up with the pressure as their openers succumbed to pressure. They were stuttering on 45-5. And their innings couldn’t get long as they were bundled for just 97 runs and lost the match by 171 runs. Tanvir Islam picked up four wickets, while Rakibul Hasan had two with Saifuddin assisting with two scalps as well.
