Lucknow Super Giants beat Kolkata Knight Riders by 4 runs in a thriller on Tuesday (April 8) at the Eden Gardens. Nicholas Pooran's swashbuckling 87* off only 36 deliveries and Mitchell Marsh's blistering 81 off 48 balls helped the LSG get to a massive 238 runs. In response, Ajinkya Rahane, Venkatesh Iyer and Rinku Singh tried to pull off the heist but failed to get over the line.
Being inserted to bat first, Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh started off to a flier, stitching a massive 99-run stand before the departure of Markram after his 47 off 28 deliveries. Nicholas Pooran came in and he too started breathing fire along with the Marsh.
The Aussie all-rounder blasted a fantastic knock of 81 off just 48 deliveries before his fall. But Nicholas Pooran came with all the guns blazing, blasting an outstanding knock of 87* off only 36 balls as he helped his side get to a mammoth 238 on the board.
In response, KKR started off to a flier as Sunil Narine and Quinton de Kock added 37 runs inside 2 overs before the fall of the later one. Skipper Ajinkya Rahane and Sunil Narine then further 54 runs before the departure of Sunil Narine after his fine 30 off 13 balls. Rahane smashed a superb fifty, scoring 61 off 35 deliveries.
At the tad backend of the innings, Rinku Singh tried to pull off the heist but was unable to take his side home as KKR were only 4 runs short.
