Pakistan women's team named Mohmmad Wasim as head coach
Wasim has an interest in coaching after his time of playing for Pakistan (18 Tests and 25 ODIs). The majority of Mohammad Wasim's coaching tenure was spent with Northern, a domestic Pakistani cricket team that existed from 2019 until 2023.

With just over a month to go till the T20 Asia Cup, Mohammad Wasim, the former Pakistan batter and men's chief selector has been chosen as head coach of the women's national side. The team has hired two ex-Pakistani bowlers, Junaid Khan (assistant coach) and Abdur Rehman (spin-bowling coach). It is anticipated that Wasim would take on the role of batting coach himself, as no one has been hired for that position.
Wasim has an interest in coaching after his time of playing for Pakistan (18 Tests and 25 ODIs). The majority of Mohammad Wasim's coaching tenure was spent with Northern, a domestic Pakistani cricket team that existed from 2019 until 2023. The Quaid-e-Azam Trophy is the top domestic first-class competition in Pakistan, and Wasim famously guided Northern to back-to-back runners-up results. In the 2019–20 season, he oversaw the Northern squad as they won the National T20 Cup. While Ramiz Raja was chairman of the PCB, Wasim also served as head selector.
According to a PCB statement, the appointments were just for the Asia Cup, which is scheduled to take place in Dambulla from July 19th to the 28th. No one has said yet if the appointments will last when the tournament is over.
After returning from a series of tough tours, the Pakistani squad will face a tough test in the Twenty20 Asia Cup. Winning just one of eight Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) played against the West Indies and England, they went winless in both ODI series. These outcomes followed a year of inconsistent performance for the national team. Notable for being the first Asian side to ever win a Twenty20 International series in New Zealand, they also won a home series against South Africa by a score of 3-0.
The PCB has selected a 28-player group to attend a training camp in Karachi for four days, even though the Asia Cup roster is still under wraps.
In the first match on July 19, Pakistan will take on India. Along with the two teams, Nepal and the UAE make up Group A. Group B consists of the host nation Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Malaysia, and Thailand. In order to participate in the semi-finals on July 26, the two best teams from each group will advance. The championship game is scheduled on July 28.
