When the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is getting excited, Pakistani cricketers are preparing to leave BPL. Meanwhile, despite the many requests of the cricketers, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is not giving them the opportunity to play in the BPL or other leagues as they wish. For the time being, every Pakistani cricketer has to return to the country in view of the upcoming PSL. According to PCB, they should return home by February 7.
So, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan are leaving Bangladesh soon. Babar is playing for Rangpur Riders and Mohammad Rizwan is playing for Comilla Victorians. They will leave Bangladesh on February 7. Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Nawaz, Usman Qadir also have to catch PSL flight. Afghanistan's Mohammad Nabi and Azmatullah Omarzai will also leave the BPL with them, but the reason for their departure is national commitment. Rumor has it, Australia star Glenn Maxwell will join Rangpur as a substitute for Nabi. However, this has not been confirmed yet.
Not only cricketers from Pakistan or Afghanistan, West Indies' Brandon King is also leaving BPL. Among the new stars who can be seen in the BPL are South Africa's Rassie Van der Dussen, Dwaine Pretorius, and Imran Tahir. Maxwell is reportedly contracted for the playoffs. So Rangpur should get into the playoffs first.
Rangpur Riders are talking to PCB and want to keep Babar Azam till February 10 match. If permission is not received, Babar's last match in this year's BPL will be on February 6. The PCB has made it clear that the NOC period of Pakistani cricketers playing in different leagues will not be extended. The final decision in Babar's case may soon be known.
