As Mirpur bursts into festivities with the vibrant colors of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), and similar excitement ripples across venues in Chattogram and Sylhet, one player remains a glaring omission from the celebrations—Mosaddek Hossain. While his teammates eagerly gear up for the battle of bat and ball, the 29-year-old all-rounder might be pondering, sleepless and disheartened, "What more must I do to earn a spot in the BPL?"

Mosaddek has consistently been a top performer in domestic cricket. From guiding his team to the championship in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) to delivering match-winning performances in the NCL T20 and the Lanka T10 League, his contributions have been pivotal. In fact, he was instrumental in leading the Bangla Tigers to victory in the T10 League.

Despite excelling with the bat, breaking partnerships with his bowling, and showcasing exceptional leadership skills, no BPL franchise has shown interest in acquiring Mosaddek—not even for the base price of just 25 lakhs BDT.

Mosaddek's omission raises eyebrows, especially when players with less impressive track records have secured spots in BPL teams. His proven ability to accelerate scoring, provide breakthroughs with the ball, and lead teams under pressure makes his exclusion even more puzzling.

Teams struggled to find captains this season, with several franchises grappling over their choices. Yet, Mosaddek, who has prior experience captaining a BPL side and even leading in the Abu Dhabi T10 League, was ignored.

While many cricketers were picked late based on performances in the NCL T20 or U19 Asia Cup, Mosaddk’s name was conspicuously absent. It's as if the franchises have collectively forgotten the value he brings to the table.

As the BPL excitement unfolds, Mosaddek might be quietly seeking opportunities to play elsewhere or reflecting on his unacknowledged efforts. For a player of his caliber, it’s disheartening to be left out of his own country’s franchise league, especially after proving himself time and again.
