As per the ICC's Future Tour Plan or FTP, Bangladesh will play the last bilateral series against New Zealand before the World Cup. There will be three ODIs in the series to be held after the Asia Cup and before the World Cup. After the World Cup, the Kiwis will come back to play Tests. The preparation for that home series has already begun.
Talks between the two boards have already progressed a long way. In continuation of this, a delegation of 4 members of New Zealand Cricket (NZC) came to visit Bangladesh. They visited Sylhet International Cricket Stadium during the third unofficial Test between Bangladesh 'A' team and West Indies 'A' team.
After landing at Sylhet Airport on Wednesday (May 31), the delegation members rested at a five-star hotel located between the airport and the grounds. Then the delegation of 4 members of New Zealand arrived at the Sylhet Stadium around 11 am. At this time, they visited everything including the main field, outer stadium, practice facility, press box of two fields, and dressing room.
Apart from the venue manager, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) cricket operations manager, and former cricketer Shahriar Nafees accompanied them.
While talking to the media, the delegation expressed satisfaction with the facilities at Sylhet Stadium. Shahriar Nafees said, “New Zealand, England, and Australia cricket boards regularly send delegations before sending teams. Although we have not finalized the venue yet, we have been informed that there may be some matches in Sylhet.”
Incidentally, New Zealand will come to Bangladesh at the end of September to play three ODIs before the start of the ICC ODI World Cup to be held in October. Tests will come after the World Cup, which again is not part of the Test Championship. The Blackcaps can play a match in Sylhet during the two-stage Bangladesh tour.
