The Bangladesh ODI squad has finally received good news as Nasum Ahmed and Nahid Rana, both left-arm bowlers, are set to join the team in Sharjah on Thursday, November 7. Due to visa complications, the two were unable to accompany the team to the UAE on November 2, narrowing Bangladesh’s options for the first ODI against Afghanistan. However, with their visas now approved, both players will be available for selection in the second ODI, adding depth to the bowling lineup.

In the first ODI, Bangladesh fielded a squad of only 13 players due to the absence of Nasum and Nahid. The team, therefore, went in with three frontline pacers—Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, and Shoriful Islam—and two spinners, Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Rishad Hossain. Despite Afghanistan’s reliance on a spin-heavy attack, Bangladesh had limited flexibility to match with additional spinners. Still, the pacers took charge, claiming all ten wickets and limiting Afghanistan to a total of 235. Mustafizur and Taskin shone brightly, each taking four wickets, while Shoriful picked up one. Taskin, however, was the most economical, with Mehidy delivering a steady ten-over spell, although he remained wicketless.

With Nasum joining the team, Bangladesh has the option to bring an extra spinner into the eleven for the second match. Nasum, returning to ODI cricket after a considerable hiatus, will be eager to make an impact. Meanwhile, Nahid Rana, newly selected for the ODI format, also hopes to secure his place among the squad's pacers alongside Mustafizur, Taskin, and Shoriful.
