Naim Sheikh brought up his first hundred of the ongoing season of Dhaka Premier League (DPL) on Monday (15th April). Despite the umpire controversy in his innings, Naim Sheikh had the last laugh.
Naim Sheikh notches up his 8th List A hundred against Prime Bank.
Being asked to bat first, Naim Sheikh and Anamul Haque Bijoy added 110 runs in the opening stand before Bijoy got out on 45 off 73 balls with the help of two sixes and as many fours. Naim Sheikh was going strong and didn't stop his carnage as he was striking over 100. He brought up his 8th List A hundred off just 97 deliveries and made a furious 105 off 104 deliveries with the help of 10 boundaries and 2 sixes.
But before the hundred, there had a controversy on umpire's decision. Mohammad Mithun came to bowl in the 28th over and he inflicted in the very first ball to hand Prime Bank a crucial breakthrough. The ball straight hit the pads and it looked plumb but umpire didn't rise his fingers and Prime Bank's captain Tamim Iqbal wasn’t happy with the decision and the play was off for a while. Naim was on 69 off just 64 balls when the incident occurred.
