Bangladesh’s young fast bowler Nahid Rana has officially asked the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for a No Objection Certificate (NOC) so he can play in the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL). Peshawar Zalmi picked Rana in the draft, and he's excited to get experience in the renowned franchise league.
Also picked in the PSL draft are two other Bangladeshi bowlers, Rishad Hossain and Litton Das. However, neither of them has yet sent in their NOC request. Litton was signed by Karachi Kings, and Rishad will play for Lahore Qalandars.
BCB’s cricket operations manager Shahriar Nafees confirmed that Nahid’s request has been received, but the board is still waiting for Rishad and Litton’s applications. "Nahid has applied for an NOC, but we haven’t received anything from Rishad yet. Maybe he will apply in a day or two," said Shahriar Nafees in an interview with BDCricTime.
Litton Das might not be able to play in the PSL because Bangladesh are going to play Zimbabwe in a two-match Test series in April. He might put national duty ahead of PSL since BCB is allegedly considering him for the T20 captaincy.
This month, BCB president Faruque Ahmed said that at that time, no Bangladeshi player had asked for a PSL NOC. He also didn't say whether the board would permit without any terms or with them.
Bangladesh’s Test and ODI captain Najmul Hossain Shanto believes that playing in franchise leagues like PSL will benefit Bangladeshi cricketers. “I think our players should play in these franchise leagues. It helps them gain experience, handle responsibilities, and share dressing rooms with international stars. I hope more of our cricketers get such opportunities in the future,” Shanto said on March 17 while speaking to the media.
