In the unlikely event that Abahani triumph in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL), Mohammedan, Abahani's bitter rival, will compete for the Super League's runner-up spot. Even still, before the Super League's commencement, Mohammedan are ranked third. Shinepukur are in the middle between Abahani and Mohammedan.
Mohammedan and Shinepukur both have 16 points, but Shinepukur have a higher run rate. With identical points, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club are ranked fourth. With seven victories, the Prime Bank Cricket Club are ranked fifth.
Prior to the Super League match, every other team conceded the top place to Abahani. With 11 victories and 22 points in 11 games, Abahani are well on their approach to reclaiming the title.
Mohammedan captain Imrul Kayes said, “We performed very well as a team. We missed some players in the very beginning. Riyad Bhai (Mahmudullah), Miraz (Mehidy Hasan) were not there. We made some silly mistakes, also lost to Shinepukur in Mirpur. If we played these matches well, there is a good chance of finishing second. There's still a chance. If we can finish the Super League well, I hope we can be runner-up.”
Imrul believes that Abahani are a stronger team than all the other teams. He added, “Of course, on paper, Abahani are a much better team than us. There are almost all players of the national team in their team. There is no lacking in their team. Among the teams after Abahani, we have played good cricket. (Aim) I said, runner-up. Abahani have gone ahead of others. Now we have a good chance to be runner-up.”
