Mohammad Ashraful has given up hope of playing in the national team. Now the former captain of the Bangladesh team is more worried about the future of junior cricketers.

Ashraful was dreaming of returning to the national team after being freed from the ban for match-fixing. But considering the recent form and age, that is impossible. He is not even in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

“No, I don't expect (to play in the national team) anymore. I have played enough cricket. But those who are young, they are sitting at home. That's what I'm worried about. I might play a season or two. Then maybe I'll take the retirement,” he said.

Aftab Ahmed, Rajin Saleh, Nazmul Hossain, who played with Ashraful have been associated with coaching. What is Ashraful's plan after the end of his career? Even if he can't come to BCB, he wants to stay with cricket.

“Haven't thought of it that way yet. But I want to stay with cricket. As I have a lot of experience in the game, I want to share it with the youngsters,” he added.

Ashraful did not get a team in the last two seasons of BPL. Even if he got a team in the national league, he could not do well. However, Ashraful's biggest concern is with the cricketers participating in the BPL.

There are many cricketers who played in NCL, BCL but did not get a team in BPL. Those who didn't get a team now sit at home. Ashraful would have been happy if BCB took a separate initiative with them.

"I am missing the field game of BPL. We have no cricket at the moment, I’m missing it more. I have been saying for four or five years, we have a lot of players. We have 120-140 first-class cricketers. There are more than 200 List-A cricketers. If we organize everything for only 50-60 cricketers and don't think about the rest, it will be difficult to become the world champion,” Ashraful further said.
