Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh had a mixed experience during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, as he was part of the victorious team that won the series 3-1 against India, but personally struggled with the bat. Marsh, who was expected to be a key contributor for Australia both with the ball and as a No. 6 batter, had a forgettable run throughout the series.

Marsh managed to score just 73 runs across 7 innings, with a low average of 10.47, and was eventually dropped for the final Test. Reflecting on his disappointing performance, Marsh expressed his frustration, especially when seeing his teammates dominate the Indian bowlers.

Marsh lightheartedly spoke about his nephew mimicking Bumrah’s action during a recent backyard cricket session.

"My nephew Ted is four years old. We were playing backyard cricket the other day, and he came to me with Bum's (Jasprit Bumrah) action. And the nightmare continued," Marsh joked while speaking at the Australian Cricket Awards.

Throughout the series, Marsh's lack of form left him feeling out of place in the lineup, to the point where he humorously suggested that Australia played with just 10 men in their victories at Adelaide and Melbourne.

"It’s been incredible, really ... capped off by the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, and the way the boys played especially with 10 players, without me. They did really well," he said, taking a jab at his own performance.

When asked about his experience with fans following his poor run, Marsh, who had previously won the Allan Border Medal, admitted that the love from supporters dwindled post-December.

"Yeah, prior to December I felt a lot of love. Post-December, bit of a different story," Marsh commented.
