According to Cricket Australia, Australia's T20I captain Mitchell Marsh will play his first Big Bash League (BBL) game in nearly three years after being named in the Perth Scorchers squad to face the Melbourne Renegades on Tuesday.
Australia's T20I captain Mitchell Marsh, who was eliminated from the Test against India in Sydney, is ready to play for the Perth Scorchers in the Big Bash League (BBL).
The experienced all-rounder made his last appearance for the Scorchers in their BBL 11 final win over the Sydney Sixers. Marsh was part of Australia's recent Border-Gavaskar Trophy winning team. He played four Tests but was dropped from the final in Sydney.
Fast bowler Jhye Richardson has also been cleared for a BBL return after being part of the Test squad for the last two matches of the Border-Gavaskar series.
The availability of other Test players will be confirmed in the coming days but Travis Head has all but confirmed he will not play for the Adelaide Strikers.
"I'm devastated," Head told Fox Cricket at the SCG on Sunday. "I don't know what I'm going to do in the next few days but we've got 10 or 12 days off now before we go to Sri Lanka and I'm going to use every little bit of it."
Marsh returned to Perth on Monday after Australia's series-deciding win at the SCG, having ceded his place in the side to Beau Webster, who made a memorable debut.
Marsh could be available for an extended period with the Scorchers until the end of the BBL if he doesn't make the squad for the Sri Lanka tour, which is due to be announced later this week.
Spinner Ashton Agar has also been included in the Scorchers squad as he continues to recover from back spasms, an injury that forced him to sit out their last BBL match against Sydney Thunder.
