Adam Milne can't play in the current ODI series between New Zealand and England because of a minor hamstring issue. The pacer hurt his leg while working in Cardiff the day before the first ODI. At the first ODI, he wasn't even in the starting team.
Even if dropped from the squad, Milne will remain with the team. He will complete the rehabilitation process with the team ahead of the World Cup. Milne is also in the squad for the series against Bangladesh this month. Due to Milne's injury, left-arm seamer Ben Lister has been added to the teamfor the next three ODIs against England. The New Zealand team traveled to Southampton on Saturday in preparation for Sunday's game.
Lister is currently in England. He is playing for Kent in the County Championship. This pacer has played only one ODI for New Zealand.
Blackcaps head coach Gary Stead said, "With Ben already here in England, it meant we could have him join the squad at short notice without the recovery time of a bowler joining from New Zealand mid-series. Ben impressed us in the UAE and in the warm-up matches in England, and will continue to learn being around some senior players in the touring group."
England and New Zealand will meet in Southampton tomorrow in the second ODI of the four-match ODI series. New Zealand won by 8 wickets in the first ODI. Earlier, the T20I series was drawn 2-2.
