Day three of the National Cricket League (NCL) showcased thrilling performances as Marshall Ayub of Dhaka Metro played a stunning innings, scoring a century and leading his team to a comeback.
As the game unfolded at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, Dhaka Metro found itself following on, but with Marshall’s impressive knock of 130 runs off 200 balls, they turned the tide. Alongside him, Aminul Islam remained steady at the crease with 48 runs, as Dhaka Metro finished their second innings at 297 runs for 4 wickets, gaining a 131-run lead over Khulna, who had earlier posted 376 runs in their first innings.
Meanwhile, at the Shahid Chandu Stadium in Bogura, a gripping contest unfolded between the Rangpur and Sylhet Divisions. Ruangpur began their second innings with a shaky start but ultimately posted a total of 220 runs, led by Tanbir Hayder’s commendable 72 runs from 168 balls and Nabin Islam's solid 63 runs off 182 balls. Sylhet’s bowlers, Rahatul Ferdous and Tofael Ahmed, each took three wickets, leaving Sylhet with a target of 190 runs. By the end of the day, Sylhet had scored 51 runs for the loss of 2 wickets.
At the Cox's Bazar Academy ground, the match between Dhaka and Chattogram was still in its first innings. Dhaka began the day without losing a wicket but ended with 281 runs for 4 wickets, with Mahidul Islam Ankon remaining unbeaten at 99. He was supported by Joyraz Sheik, who scored 74 runs. Dhaka still trails Chittagong by 90 runs, who had made 371 in their first innings, with Nayeem Hasan and Murad Hasan each taking two wickets for Chattogram.
Over at the Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium in Cox's Bazar, Rajshahi Division started strong with no runs for the loss of wickets and finished the day with 275 runs in their first innings, thanks to a solid 80-run performance from Pritom Kumar. They ended with a lead of 70 runs. Ruel Mia of Barishal stood out with three wickets. Barishal, chasing Rajshahi's score, ended the day at 10 runs without losing any wickets.
