Ireland on top after day 1 in Abu Dhabi test on Wednesday (28th February). A fiery fifer from Mark Adair aided them to restrict Afghanistan for a measly 155. In reply, Ireland have scored 100 after losing just 4 wickets trailing by only 55 runs after the end of the day.
Mark Adair's maiden fifer in test arena came off Afghanistan in Abu Dhabi today.
Earlier, Afghanistan won the toss and chose to bat first. Coming out to bat, they saw the ball was swing and Mark Adair made merry of the new cherry. The bowl swung throughout the day and Adair came with everything over Afghanistan. He ran riot through the Afghan batting lineup and picked up 5 wickets. He was well aided by Craig Young and Curtis Campher's 2 fers respectively. With the disciplined bowling, Ireland managed to bowl Afghanistan out for a paltry 155 runs.
Only Ibrahim Zadran and Karim Zanat showed some guts infront of Irish bowling attack. Zadran scored a fantastic 53 off 83 deliveries while Karim Zanat at the backend of the day made an unbeaten 41* off 78 balls.
In reply, Irish openers couldn’t stay for long. Naveed Zadran removed both the openers for cheap with the new ball. Curtis Campher and Harry Tector stitched a brilliant partnership of 60 runs to bring Ireland back into the game before Zia-Ur- Rahman broke the partnership by picking up the wicket of Campher for 49 off 64, 1 shy from his half century.
However, Ireland are on 100-4 and should be the happier side and hold the key of the match. They're trailing Afghanistan by just 55 runs and will be fancy to score these runs as soon as possible in tomorrow's morning session. While Afghanistan will be hoping to trigger a collapse to bring themself back into the game.
