The Bangladesh cricket team is currently in Pakistan for a Test series, but they have suffered a significant setback before the series even begins. Mahmudul Hasan Joy has been ruled out due to an injury, meaning he will miss the crucial matches against Pakistan.
Joy is reportedly suffering from a groin injury, and sources within the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have confirmed that he will be sidelined for at least three weeks. The injury also prevented Joy from batting in the recent match against Pakistan's A team.
Prior to the national team's series, an unofficial Test series between the A teams of Bangladesh and Pakistan was being played in Islamabad. It was during this series that Joy sustained the injury while fielding during the first innings. After this match, he was supposed to join the national team in Rawalpindi. Joy had been in good form leading up to the series against Pakistan.
Despite the Bangladesh A team being bowled out for just 122 runs, Joy managed to score 65 runs. Rain disrupted play on all four days of the match, leading to a draw, with Naim Sheikh's fifty playing a key role. Earlier, Joy had also performed well in Australia against Pakistan Shaheens, scoring two fifties and taking five wickets to help his team win.
The Pakistan-Bangladesh Test series is set to begin on August 21 in Rawalpindi, with the second and final match starting on August 30 in Karachi.
