England crash West Indies by 5 wickets to level the series on Sunday (October 3) in Antigua. Skipper Liam Livingstone's swashbuckling 124* off only 85 deliveries helped the visitors chase down West Indies' 329-run target.
Opting to bowl first, England had a terrific start as John Turner removed the openers in a blink of an eye. But Keacy Carty and skipper Shai Hope stood tall and stitched a superb 143-run stand before Adil Rashid knocked over Keacy on his 71.
Hope then found hands with Sherfane Rutherford. Shai Hope was steering the ship, while Rutherford was smashing things around. Rutherford and Hope added 79 runs, where the 54 runs came from Rutherford's bat off only 36 deliveries.
Shimron Hetmyer too smashed for a while and scored a quick-fire cameo of 24 off 11 balls. Shai Hope, on the contrary, brought up another ODI hundred and ended his innings on 117 off 127 deliveries. At the backend of the innings, Matthew Forde blasted 23 off 11 balls to help the hosts post 328 on the board.
In reply, England lost Will Jacks earlier on to Matthew Forde. Shamar Joseph too removed Jordan Cox for four and England were in deep trouble. Jacob Bethell and opener Phil Salt then strung together for 44 runs. Both of them, however, notched up their fifties. Forde removed Salt after fifty, Chase too had Bethell, which reduced England to 160-4.
Skipper Liam Livingstone and Sam Curran combined an outstanding 140-run stand together to change the course of the game. Livingstone brought up his hundred, Sam too made a superb fifty. Livingstone remained unbeaten on 124* off only 85 balls to help the visitors level the series by 1-1.
