Lahore Qalandars will set up a high-performance center in Harare to train up-and-coming Zimbabwe cricketers. According to a press release from the Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise, Qalandars have signed a landmark deal with Zimbabwe Cricket to nurture cricket talent.
Pakistan Super League (PSL) champions Lahore Qalandars and Zimbabwe Cricket have agreed to promote collaboration and talent development. The agreement was formalized with the signing of the agreement by Lahore Qalandars Chief Operating Officer Atif Rana and Zimbabwe Cricket Chief Executive.
Under the terms of the agreement, Lahore Qalandars will establish a new high-performance center in Harare with the aim of raising the performance standards of Zimbabwe cricket. This center will become the new hub for Lahore Qalandars' high-performance initiatives, enhancing the skills and abilities of Zimbabwe's aspiring cricketers.
According to the MoU, Zimbabwe's under-19 and women's cricket teams will benefit from the QHPC's world-class facilities and expertise as they prepare for their tours to Bangladesh and Sri Lanka respectively.
Additionally, five local players from QHPC will be attending the Zimbabwe national cricket season to give maximum attention to the game before kicking off their top-flight cricket in Pakistan.
Lahore Qalandars will also help transform the Takashinga Cricket Ground into a state-of-the-art Zim QHPC.
“I am delighted to sign this landmark deal with Zimbabwe Cricket. Cricket is a beautiful game and as an evolving cricket franchise, Lahore Qalandars strives to provide the best resources to talented players around the world,” said Atif Rana, CEO of Lahore Qalandars.
“During our first player development program in Zimbabwe, we saw tremendous potential in Harare, Bulawayo and Kwekwe. We are confident that the most successful PDP program will change the fortunes of Zimbabwe cricket as happened in Pakistan.
“Furthermore, the expertise of Lahore Qalandars will play a crucial role in introducing tape ball cricket to Zimbabwe. This initiative aims to expand the pool of fast bowling and power hitting talent in the country and ensure a sustainable pipeline of exceptional cricketers.”
