India's chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav was not a regular feature of national setup in limited-overs cricket in the recent past years. However, the left-arm spinner didn't bat an eye as he kept working on his rhythm where he tweaked some changes in his approach. All these aspects helped him become a better spinner now.
Kuldeep YadavAfter putting so much hard work into his process, he earned the trust of the selectors. He was brought back in the national setup and he justified his selection right by letting his performance do the talking in the Asia Cup 2023 tournament.
He was adjudged the Man of the Series award for his stellar show in the Asia Cup 2023 tournament. Having played five games for India in the Asia Cup, he accounted for nine dismissals at an impressive bowling average of 11.44. At the post-match presentation, he credited Rohit Sharma for encouraging him to work on his speed.
Kuldeep Yadav has well and truly worked on his speed and has been bowling deliveries pretty quickly. This has helped him pose a threat to the opposition batters. Besides that, he tried to be more aggressive through the crease. His best performance came against Pakistan when he registered a five-wicket haul in the Super Fours.
He followed it up with a superb bowling performance against Sri Lanka in the Super Fours by taking a four-wicket haul. "From the last one and a half years, been working on my rhythm. Being more aggressive through the crease. Loving my bowling. In T20s also the length matters a lot," Kuldeep Yadav added.
Furthermore, he stated that it is all about the lengths. "It's about not thinking about wickets, just about the lengths. Have worked hard on that. Credit goes to Rohit bhai. He encouraged me to work on my speed. When fast bowlers give you a couple of wickets in powerplay, it becomes easy for spinners."
Team India restricted Sri Lanka to 50 in the Asia Cup 2023 final in Colombo. Dasun Shanaka-led Sri Lankan cricket team were humiliated in their own backyard as they posted their second-lowest total in the history of One-Day Internationals. In response, India won the game by 10 wickets and lifted their eighth Asia Cup trophy.
