Kolkata Knight Riders won a thriller at the Eden Gardens as they've beaten Royal Challengers Bangaluru by just 1 run on Sunday (21st April). Phil Salt's blitzkrieg 48, Shreyas Iyer's fifty and Ramandeep Singh's 24 off 9 helped KKR post 222-6 on the board. In reply, RCB's Will Jacks and Rajat Patidar showed them the way of chase but they were one run short in the chase.
Earlier, Phil Salt started with bang smacking Lockie Ferguson everywhere of the park and raced to 48 off only 14 balls. After the departure of Salt, the run scoring has been absorbed up but Shreyas Iyer took the charge as he made a solid fifty infront of his home crowd to keep his side going on. At the backend of the end, Ramandeep Singh's breezy 24 off only 9 balls helped KKR breach 200 mark barrier and post 222 on the board.
For RCB, Cameron Green chipped in with 2 wickets, Yash Dayal also had two wickets as well.
In reply, Virat Kohli gave RCB a flying start but his short time carnage didn’t last long as a loppy full toss got him out on a controversial umpire decision. But Will Jacks and Rajat Patidar were on a mood to finish the game. The duo added 102 runs off only 48 balls and their fluency was at it's peak. But double blow arrived as both of them departed which drafted RCB away from the game.
But Dinesh Karthik kept the onslaught going on in pursuit of 223 but Russell removed him. In the last over RCB needed 21 runs, Karn Sharma smacked three sixes on the trot and then got out to Starc. They then left needing 3 off the final ball and RCB managed to get just a single and hence they lost the game by only 1 run.
