Pakistan allrounder Khushdil Shah has been fined 50% of his match fee for violating the ICC Code of Conduct during the first T20I against New Zealand in Christchurch.
Additionally, he has received three demerit points, marking his first offence within a 24-month period.
The incident took place in the eighth over of Pakistan's innings when Khushdil played the third delivery from Foulkes past mid-on. While running, he collided with the bowler, who had his back turned, using his left shoulder. The umpire addressed the matter after the batters completed two runs.
As Khushdil accepted the sanctions imposed by the umpires and match referee Jeff Crowe, a formal hearing was not required.
Khushdil Shah was Pakistan’s top scorer in the first T20I, making 32 off 30 balls, but received little support from his teammates as the team was bowled out for just 91. Openers Tim Seifert and Finn Allen then guided New Zealand to a comfortable chase, reaching the target in just 10.1 overs to secure a 1-0 series lead.
Pakistan have chosen a revamped squad for the New Zealand tour, leaving out Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan as they experiment with a more 'high-risk' strategy. They will aim for a comeback as the series shifts to Dunedin for the second T20I.
