Australia beat England by 5 wickets to kick off the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 on Saturday (February 22) in Lahore. Ben Duckett's incredible 165 helped England put on a massive total of 351 on the board. In reply, Josh Inglis smashed a stunning 120* off just 86 deliveries to steer Australia home.

Being inserted to bat first, England lost Phil Salt early on a stunning grab from Alex Carey. However, Jamie Smith played some delightful shot before falling to Ben Dwarshuis as Australia were on top after picking up two quick wickets. But Joe Root and Ben Duckett put up together and duo kept the scoreboard ticking superbly.

They hit boundaries at a regular intervals. The duo added a massive 158-run stand together before the fall of Joe Root after his well-made 68 off 78 deliveries. Zampa picked up wickets at a quick succession but England kept things under control as Ben Duckett was smashing ins and outs and everywhere of the park. His lusty blows at the end and Jofra Archer's some audacious shots helped the England side get a massive 351 on the board.

In reply, Australia lost their star batter Travis Head to Jofra Archer. While Steve Smith too fell cheaply as the Aussies were stumbling on 27-2. But Matthew Short and Marnus Labuschagne did the rebuild job, adding a fantastic 95-run stand before the departure of Labuschagne after his 47 off 45 deliveries. While Matthew Short brought up fifty and fell soon after.

But wicketkeeper batter Josh Inglis and Alex Carey came together for an outstanding stand helping the Aussies get a massive platform to unleash their monstrous prowess at the backend of the innings. The duo added a massive 146-run stand before the fall of Carey after his 69 off 63 deliveries. While Josh Inglis went for making a sensational hundred and hit the winning run, steering his team clinch a stunning hundred.
