Rajasthan Royals fast bowler Jofra Archer had the most expensive spell in IPL history in the first game of his team's season against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in IPL 2025 on Sunday (March 23).  Archer conceded 76 runs in four overs while playing in Hyderabad. This beat Mohit Sharma's previous best of 73 runs given up in IPL 2024.

The English fast bowler, who is known for his deadly speed and white-ball skills, finally played in the IPL again after missing the 2024 season.  At the auction, Rajasthan paid INR 12.50 crore to get him back, but his return wasn't good at all.

Archer was hit hard from the very first over of the Powerplay.  Travis Head started the attack by hitting him four fours and a six, scoring 23 runs in one over.  Ishan Kishan hit three huge sixes off of his bowling in his third over, which made things worse.

In his last over, SRH batters hit five more fours, including a waist-high no-ball that was caught and run for four byes.  Archer had been hit for eight fours and six sixes by the time his spell was over.
