Speaking after the day's play, Stubbs credited his partner de Zorzi, who batted with an exceptional sweep technique that allowed him to hold firm against Bangladesh's spinners. “Before the game, my game plan was to sweep, then I struggled with the actual sweep. So it was more the reverse sweep today. And Tony's pretty similar. He was sweeping really well. Sometimes when it's working on that day, you just commit with it. And he did that really well to a tight strike, and that worked throughout the day,” Stubbs said.
Stubbs also expressed how he enjoyed batting alongside de Zorzi, who helped him ease into the game after a slightly nervous start. “I was really nervous up front, and it was nice batting with Tony. He was really calm, and he was flowing quite nicely. And then I give huge credit to him, actually. Straight after lunch, he started cramping in his form, and this mental strength to go through the whole day was unbelievable. And we kept reminding each other, Let's go. Let's not take anything for granted. So it was really enjoyable batting with him,” he added.
The Chattogram Test marks the second and final match in the series, where South Africa already holds a 1-0 lead. With Day Two ahead, the Proteas look well-positioned to maintain their momentum and challenge Bangladesh to regain their footing.
