An engrossing day of Test Cricket come to an end. Blessing Muzarabani's hardfought 47 helped the Irishmen get a slender lead of 7 runs. But post that, Ireland have done well to go through the stumps losing only 1 wicket.
Ireland kept chipping away at the wickets since the beginning of the day. But Nick Welch started exactly where he left off. He batted with lot of grit and determination to keep the fight on. He played a terrific knock of 90 off 173 deliveries, including a six and 9 boundaries. However, Zimbabwe were reduced to 200-9.
But Blessing Muzarabani and Trevor Gwandu put on a show in Bulawayo, stitching up a sensational 67-run last wicket partnership and helping the hosts get a slender lead of only 7 runs. Muzarabani played a superb knock of 47-run, doing the majority portion of the damage.
Barry McCarthy picked up four wickets, while Andy McBrine had three wickets to his name.
In reply, Peter Moor and captain Andrew Balbirnie had a fine opening partnership of 46 runs before Richard Ngarava getting rid off the former one after his 30 off 33 deliveries. However, Balbirnie and Curtis Campher then saw off the last few overs and helping Ireland go unscathed as Ireland are on 83-1, leading Zimbabwe by 76 runs.
