Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) kicked off IPL 2025 in style smashing 286/6 in their opening game the second-highest total in IPL history. However after that stunning start SRH’s momentum has dipped with two successive losses denting their early campaign.

After a five-wicket defeat to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) they suffered another setback against Delhi Capitals (DC) on March 30 losing by seven wickets. Despite these setback head coach Daniel Vettori remains adamant that SRH will continue with their aggressive batting strategy.
Speaking after SRH’s loss to DC, Vettori defended the team's attacking mindset, saying they won’t change their approach despite recent failures.
"There's no conversation around tempering down. We definitely want to play an aggressive brand. If you look at our top three, that's how they play. They normally set the tone for the rest of us."
SRH’s top order struggled against Delhi with Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, and Ishan Kishan failing to fire. However Vettori believes their attacking style will yield results over time.
"Abhishek was unlucky tonight. Ishan and Travis, on a different day, may have hit those balls for six. We understand that when we play this way, there may be failures, but hopefully, we can come to the party and perform more often than not."
Vettori acknowledged that early-season struggles are not uncommon especially after a mega auction year.
"If you look at the course of the 18 IPL seasons, very few teams haven’t lost two games in a row, particularly early in the season when teams are learning their combinations. We don't want to be in this position, but we understand that every time we play, we come up against a very good team."
Despite the losses, the former Kiwi spinner remains confident in SRH’s ability to bounce back.
"There's no reason why we can't just turn up and win. We've got to perform that’s the challenge for us after a very good first performance and continue in the style we like."
